George's new look

If you have been following along, then you might remember George? George was the jungle themed dresser that I inherited from a good friend of mine.  He was a sad, lonely little guy with a confused sense of self.  He was half dresser, half animal.
Not a good mix.

Just look at his poor little skin

I stripped him down with Citristrip and changed his life forever.

Who knew he had such a beautiful body?
(Is it creepy that I'm talking about him likes he's some character out of Magic Mike?)

After removing all of his remaining paint, I scrubbed him down and gave him a light sanding.  I coated him with one coat of Zinsser 123 primer that was tinted Martha Stewarts Bedford Grey (leftover from our kitchen cabinet painting).
MS Bedford Grey

Before adding any coats of paint to him, I wanted to make sure that I would have a beautifully smooth finish so I used a sanding block to do a light sanding and knock down any rough texture.

I wiped the dresser down on last time and applied 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Proclassic paint tinted to Martha Stewart's Bedford Grey.

I already loved the color (obviously, or I wouldn't have painted my cabinets that color! Ha!) but I wanted to add a classic and sophisticated pull to his very basic frame rather than a more modern approach like when we replaced our cabinet hardware. When we chose our cabinet hardware, we went with a brushed nickel.  This time around with this color paint, I went with an antique brass look.

I could not be happier!!  I think it gives it a very grown up look.

So without further ado, here is George now!

And again, with a little side by side action
